Made in Tokyo Guide Map

$15.00

Text by Atelier Bow-Wow: Momoyo Kaijima and Yoshiharu Tsukamoto. Design by KUDOS Design Collaboratory.

Tokyo, the transforming metropolis, has experienced a variety of social, economic and political shifts. The 1964 Summer Games, hosted by Tokyo, was the trigger to facilitate the rapid improvement of infrastructure. And the city is still changing—now in advance of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games. Published in conjunction with the exhibition Made in Tokyo: Architecture & Living, 1964/2020, this map serves as architectural firm Atelier Bow-Wow’s guide to Tokyo. Six types of facilities—stadiums, stations, retail spaces, offices, capsules and homes—from the two periods are compared, illuminating differences in the ever-changing Tokyo environment.
